Defeat but not defeated!
Brittan tried out for Drill Team last week, a dream she has had for many years. As everyone knows by now she didn't make it, but what a gal, she is an amazing dancer, and is taking this loss hard but with a great attitude. She is motivated to work harder and keep dancing. We are proud of her efforts and love her desire to improve despite rejection. We appreciate everyone and their support of our kids. Brittan felt very loved and supported by many family and friends alike. She tasted defeat in a big time way for the first time in her 14 years, but she was not defeated. Her best is still yet to come!

Greetings from Maui
Mom and I returned from a grand week in Maui early this morning. We had a great time at the Grande Wailea Resort and Spa on the south shore of Maui. The weather was beautiful, the beach was delightful, the whales were jumping, the food was delicious, and the company was ideal. Grandpa is a real romantic!! We loved the Grande Wailea with it's beautiful setting and spectacular pools and landscapiing. Just the place we would like to return to someday. We were amazed at all the children that were there with their families. There were special pool areas and activities. Since it was such a very large resort, the place could hold several thousand and not even seem crowded. We saw three weddings during our stay and we are quite certain that they must have cost BIG time in order to be held in such pricey place.
We enjoyed attending the Kihei ward on Maui. People were so friendly and the classes were excellent and interesting. They have a good mix of islanders and haole members of all ages. We always see people we know when we visit other wards and this time it was no exception. A former member of our old 48th ward lives there with his family(5) children-Scott Jackman brother to Cindy Jackman. Also, the Dan Hoopes family of St. George was there. They know the Challis family. We gave a fireside at their home on India and brother Hoopes built on to our St. George home for us when we extened out to our patio space eight years ago. Trite but true--a Mormon's worldis really small!
We wish all of you could have been there with us. Love Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa
